SSMN
SPIRITUALITY
The
symbols of the congregational seal of the Sisters of Saint Mary
highlight aspects of their spirituality.
The
central place of the M indicates the importance of Mary, the Mother
of God, in the lives of the sisters. ' The Virgin Mary is a source
of inspiration for each one. Open to the Holy Spirit she gave herself
completely to the person and work of her Son.'
SSMN Constitutions 41.
The star symbolises hope. 'Our eyes fixed on Jesus, with the certain
hope of God's saving love, we seek to discern the will of God in
the light of the Holy Spirit.'

text on spiritual identity 2000
The global shape of the seal highlights the sisters' desires for
'circles of communion' and finding ways of expressing their internationality,
a fruit of the missionary spirit and a prophetic challenge for women
and men in our world today.
SSMN GENERAL CHAPTER 2001
The
lilies recall the motto of the congregation: 'In the simplicity
of my heart, full of joy, I have offered all to God.' 'We draw inspiration
from the pattern of Jesus' life of simplicity, joy and total self-giving.'
