SISTER MARGARET YOUNG
Belonging to an international religious order has allowed me to
work nationally and internationally. Getting to know sisters from
different countries and learning about the people with whom they
live and work has enriched and challenged me.
I
now live in Watford in Hertfordshire. After spending some years
as a health visitor in Central London where I met many people struggling
to cope with life, I decided to train as a psychiatric nurse. The
training enabled me to gain skills in helping people to cope creatively
with change enabling them, where possible, to find new meaning in
life and to believe in themselves once again.
As we depend on one another for our identities and understandings
of our world, the daily challenge is to try to help people to find
the strength, confidence and motivation to believe that in reaching
out to another human being they will be able to move through the
darkness of their emptiness and pain into new life.
