SISTER DELIA

For the past seventeen years I have been working as a pastoral assistant, mostly in the parish of St Francis of Assisi, West London, where I am at present. In collaboration with parish priests and teams, my task is to care for the elderly, the bereaved and families in need. All this is carried out in harmony with the sacramental, liturgical and administrative work of the parish.

Part of my responsibility is to coordinate the teams of Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, cleaners, counters and those responsible for laundering the altar linen.

Needs are endless in this multi-cultural parish in Notting Hill. With up to sixty nationalities in the area, many children in the primary school are speaking English as a second or even a third language, so inculturation is a big issue. I enjoy being with the people of this area and am privileged to be part of their lives, journeying with them as they cope with the demands of life. As a Sister of St Mary, I have received many graces through these ministries.
